Finally skirmished my MP40 yesterday and I was mightily pleased with its performance. Whilst I didn't have the dodgy hop problem, I did need to get the double-firing sorted out. Also, the original battery did not hold its charge, so I bought a decent 1300mA one.

So, for a total cost of

I too don't seem to have any of the HOP problems others seem to have had, mine fires pretty well for a short barrelled gun. I can't wait to skirmish with it! Also, the "30 round" magazines I ordered all hold 50 rounds, which is a real bonus. I'm very impressed with the value for money this aeg represents. I also cannot fault the service of RSOV in any way and would recommend him to anyone.

Yep, mine is like that. I'm going to reverse it tomorrow. I don't really like slings much but this MP40 really needs one!

Let me know how easy it is , you're right though it's too heavy on the hand on it's own and I don't plan on using the stock much .

Will do. I'd have a bash at it tonight but my beer intake probably makes that unwise!

Me too  Mind you just spent 20 minutes widening the slot in the back to take the sling .
Anyone had any thoughts about making a hi cap yet , Uzi internals fit in one of these mags ?

Well, against my better judgement, I just had crack at changing the sling bracket over. It's a doddle mate.

Step 1 - Unscrew the muzzle protector.

Step 2 - Turn the big nut thing in front of the mag housing. This should release the foresight assembly and vehicle mount enought to unscrew the big nut some more. It only takes a couple of turns to move it all enough for the sling bracket to have enough play to rotate it 180 degrees.

Step 3 - Tighten the big nut back up, ensuring the vehicle mount slides back into the groove as you tighten the nut up.

Step 4 - Replace the muzzle protector. Careful! It's an awkward thread.

Voila! Job done.

As for hicaps, apprently a TOP one will work, you just need to turn the innards around and dremel the hatch a bit to match the AGM one.

Anyone managed to get a Ak hop unit to fit into this AGM mp40? I have modded the hop unit & fitted a TM mp5 inner barrel using the taffy method but was wondering as the hop unit looks similat to a Ak one, my barrel managed to work loose after a few mags, I have now added more glue but am doubtful I will ever be able to get the thing out again

This thread details how to use a marui UZI 220 rd innards in the AGM MP40 mag to make a hi cap for your MP40.

Haven't tried it myself yet.

I advised an American WW2 AS of the same manufacturer issue with the AGM MP40's - he swapped and so did I.

On further investigation I discovered that left or right front belt loop positioning is seen in various reference photo's from the web and books i have !!

Gotta say tho, the sling sits better for me with right loop lol

Curious , I only had a brief look at a few pics and assumed it was wrong. Looks like it's as swapable as the original, although on the right I would think it's less likely to foul the cocking lever .

Interesting, when I put my PC firer MP40 back together after painting I couldn't work out why the damn thing was so awkward to sling. Then I realised that it was better to have the fron loop on the left (I am right-handed). The thing is designed to go either way - so with my spanky new bb MP40 I kept it on the left (as supplied). That way you can shoot from the hip (well, waist) with the sling tightly right-shouldered.

No official reviews, Sly - but mine has been skirmished loads of times and never let me down.

I'm sure I have read a review (prob on the US WW2 airsoft board) but that would have been yonks ago. Hundreds of them out there in the field now and it's fair to say it's a great bit of skirmishable kit esp. for the money.

Is there anything in particular you are concerned about?

The MP40 is a very good weapon, its accurate and and mine will be on par with my CA MP5. Difficult to compare with Mauri as there is no MP40 by them. Its built like a tank, as its nearly all metal. the only flaw is the low cap mags, not an issue for us but can be a problem if used on open days against M4's and such. To be honest I like mine a lot. Considering your other choice is a TOP, which will take money and time to bring it up to the level of the AGM, why would you not chose one. Its a weighty beast, much heavier than my M4. The final thought is if you are an axis player, your weapon choices are a bit limited, AGM MP40 TOP MP40,Dboys KAR98 and finally Tanaka KAR98. MY choice would be AGM MP40 and Tanaka KAR every day of the week. P

The hop can be tricky and the two piece barrel means that it's not going to shoot a gnats nuts off at 20 yards but it's as good as any of the TM SMGs for range and accuracy IMHO.

You can also DIY hi-caps from Uzi mags - the internals slip right into the MP40 mags.

Bone question ... the internals from any Uzi mag or is a particular brand recommended?

Cheers
